Synthesis of energetic salts and cocrystals using azole derivatives.
Dr. Kazuki Inoue has studied syntheses of energetic salts and cocrystals. The results have been published in Science and Technology of Energetic Materials as the following papers. In the article, “Synthesis, crystallographic characterization, and thermal analyses of five 5-methyl-1H-tetrazole salts, five 5-metyltetrazole salts such as perchlorate and nitrate were synthesized, and their crystal structures were determined. In the article, “Enhancement of the burning performance of ammonium nitrate via cocrystallization”, ammonium nitrate was cocrystallized with 4-amino-1,2,4-triazole. The cocrystal showed lower hygroscopicity and higher burning performance than those of the mixture of parent materials. Furthermore, the cocrystal did not exhibit phase transition. The results indicated that cocrystallization is effective to improve three defects of ammonium nitrate.
For these reason, Dr. Kazuki Inoue's research results are highly evaluated and have contributed greatly to the Japan Explosives Society, and he is worthy of the Japan Explosives Society Encouragement Award.
