Numerical simulation of the gas-flow in the operation of pulse detonation engine (*in Japanese)

Abstract

Pulse Detonation Engien (PDE) is a detonation drive engine, which is received considerable attention because of its high efficiency, lightweight and simplicity. Numerical simulation of the gas-flow in the cyclic operation of pulse detonation engine is carried. The idealized combustion chamber has a valve at the head end. It is shown that the numerical simulation works well to estimate the character, especially for the air intake and the exhaust. the result shows that it takes about 4 ms to work one cycle, when the length of the combustion cylinder is about 500 mm.
